POOL HOUSE AND RECREATION AREA, BEXHILL
Client: Private clients.
Brief: To provide a strong contemporary design concept for the interior of a new build domestic pool house, and exterior landscaping in the client's garden. The building envelope already had planning permission and the pool size and shape had been determined.
Method: The design separated the interior space into a sensual swimming area, taking inspiration from rock pools in the choice of forms and materials; and an organically shaped relaxation area. Natural materials such as pebbles, slate and oak were used throughout, to contrast with the colour changing LEDs fitted inside the pool. Working alongside the client's local architect, changes were made to the openings of the building to accommodate the internal designs. The relaxation area uses a curving timber plane to draw the outside in, lifting out of its surface to form the patio barbeque, bar and lounger. Externally the water feature extends to a rock pool garden.
